Master’s Program
A. Thesis Submission Requirements:Completion (expected) of the Master’s program and Passed the Thesis Qualification Exam (foreign language and major).
B. Thesis Submission Deadline:Within 4 years of completion of program (in the case of extension, within 6 years)
C. Doctorate Thesis Submission Process
1)

Thesis Proposal Submission and Presentation The students who wish to write their Master’s thesis in the specific semester should consult their advising professor and present their thesis proposal at the thesis proposal presentation (April, October). The students should consult the expected advising professors whether to present at the thesis presentation at least 10 days before the presentation, and when they decide to present, they should submit the thesis proposal to the faculty of International Relations.

Thesis Proposal Evaluation
After the thesis proposal presentation, the results will be decided after a faculty meeting.

3)

Composition of Review Committee
The review committee for the Master’s thesis will compose of 3 individuals including the advising professor after the thesis proposal presentation and faculty meeting.

Master’s Thesis Evaluation Application and Submission of Thesis Draft
Those wishing to present at the Master’s thesis presentation should submit their thesis draft to their advising professors to decide on whether they will present (at this point, a practical evaluation should be conducted so that there will not arise a case where the student cannot present their draft at the specific semester), and when they decide to present at the thesis presentation in the specific semester, they should submit a Master’s thesis evaluation application to the International Relations Office according to the academic calendar. (The thesis evaluation application is submit to change, but generally should be submitted in the second week of April or second week of October.) However, the thesis evaluation is only possible the semester after the thesis proposal passes.

Thesis Evaluation
Thesis evaluation will be conducted over two rounds including a first round of evaluation, and a second evaluation after revisions and modifications. The prospective thesis presenters should consult his or her advising professors to decide on whether or not to present at least 10 days before the presentation, and once they decide to present, the thesis draft should be submitted to the International Relations faculty and external committee members at least a week before the presentation.

Researcher Registration
In the case that students who have completed the program want to present their theses, they should register themselves as researchers for that specific semester.

Doctorate Program

C. Doctorate Thesis Submission Process
1)

Thesis Proposal Submission
The doctorate student aiming to write a thesis should pass the thesis qualification exam, both the fundamental common subjects and the major subjects. Then, the student should submit the thesis proposal to the review committee after consulting his or her advising professor. In the thesis proposal, the student should include a summary on the courses that he or she took during the program.

Thesis Proposal Presentation and Evaluation
After the thesis proposal is submitted, a presentation will take place where the thesis proposals will be evaluated. The results will be decided at a faculty meeting after the presentation.

3)

Composition of Review Committee
The doctorate thesis review committee will compose of 5 individuals including the advising professor after the thesis presentation and faculty meeting.

4)

The students who wish to submit their doctorate thesis in the specific semester should submit their thesis draft to their advising professor by the second week of March/ second week of September to decide whether to send it to the review committee. The submission of the thesis draft to the review committee will follow the announced academic calendar (first week of April/ first week of October).

5)

Thesis Evaluation
Thesis evaluation will be conducted over four rounds including thesis summary presentation (one round), thesis preliminary examination (over two rounds), and thesis final examination (one round). The final examination should be completed by June 30, or December 30.

6)

Researcher Registration
In the case that students who have completed the program want to present their theses, they should register themselves as researchers for that specific semester.
